Mei Nakatsugawa

First appeared in Chapter 73 of the original work. A first-year student attending Motosu High School. A close friend of Ema. Keeps a Samoyed dog named Hanpen at home. Joins Ema at Fujikawa Park after Ena, who was walking with Chikuwa, leaves. Shortly after entering high school, she got a flat tire on her way to school by bicycle and was helped by Aoi, who was also on her way to school on a road bike. This sparked her interest in sports bicycles, and she used the money from refunding her commuter pass to buy a road bike. She temporarily joined the school's cycling club but found the training too rigorous and quit. Following Aoi's recommendation, she joined the outdoor activities club after meeting her again on campus.

From Chapter 81 to Chapter 86 of the original work, she goes on a road bike camping trip along the Fujikawa and Fuefuki Rivers with Aoi. On their way back from the trip in Chapter 86, they encounter Mei's mother walking their family dog Hanpen and learn that Aoi and Mei's mother both work at the same supermarket, Zebra. In Chapter 87, after being pointed out by Ema that she has her feet in two expensive hobbies (road biking and camping), she starts working part-time at the home improvement store "Komori" across from the multi-purpose facility where Mei's mother works and Chiaki and Aoi also have part-time jobs.
