Chloe Aubert

Chloe is one of five children who were incompletely summoned into the world and taken in by the Freedom Association’s academy in the Kingdom of Ingracia.

Because her immature body was forced to contain an immense amount of magicules, she was fated to die from magicule runaway, until she was saved by Rimuru Tempest.

She first meets Rimuru when he visits the Kingdom of Ingracia in volume 4, immediately comes to admire him as “Teacher,” and develops strong affection for him.

Rimuru later brings her to the Dwelling of the Spirits, where she is saved by housing the soul known as Chronoa, and he gives her Shizue Izawa’s original Anti-Magic Mask as a keepsake.

Afterward, she transfers to the school in the Jura Tempest Federation and comes under its protection alongside her friends such as Kenya.

She eventually becomes revealed as the time-traveling “Hero Chronoa,” a being who has repeatedly looped through thousands of years to prevent Rimuru’s death and the collapse of the future.

As the loops progress, Chloe awakens as a true Hero when her “hero’s egg” fuses with the “egg” of Hinata Sakaguchi.

Later, after being temporarily subject to the mind-control aspect of King of Hope by Feldo Way, Chloe resists this control through sheer will and the efforts of her Chronoa persona.

When Michael unleashes a time-stopping attack in the Heavenly Communication Tower, Chloe overcomes her previous mental restraints and protects Rimuru from the stopped time, then defeats one of Michael’s parallel existences in single combat.

She usually dresses as a student and keeps Shizue Izawa’s original Anti-Magic Mask as a treasured item, which she receives from Rimuru.

After her time-travel identity is revealed, it becomes clear that she has another form: the adult “Hero Chronoa.”

When Chronoa’s consciousness is at the forefront, Chloe’s body visibly changes into an adult, battle-ready hero with a powerful and intimidating presence.

In everyday life in the Jura Tempest Federation, she prefers to remain in her child form and attend school with her friends.

Chronoa is the alternate personality and god-intellect core residing within Chloe, created and named during one of the time loops.

The name “Chronoa” was given by Hinata Sakaguchi when Chloe, having traveled back in time, began acting openly as a hero.

Origin of Chronoa

When Chloe time-travels into the past and begins working as a hero, she uses the alias “Hero Chronoa” to hide her true identity.

During this period, she becomes close to Luminous Valentine and plays a vital role in history, including the sealing of Veldora Tempest.

The act of receiving a name from Hinata causes a significant transformation.

Chloe absorbs Hinata’s Unique Skill “Usurper” during the naming, and that skill, driven by the memory that “Rimuru died,” gains its own consciousness as a manifestation of sin and destructive impulse.

Eventually, Chloe’s and Hinata’s base personalities fall asleep within the shared body due to the burden of the loops and their shared fate.

When that happens, Chronoa becomes the primary personality, acting on pure destructive urges and the warped drive to “correct” the timeline.

Evolution and Integration

Chronoa initially operates as a dangerous, seemingly uncontrollable entity.

However, when she meets Rimuru again in the present timeline, the destructive impulse begins to calm, and the “Usurper” power is integrated into King of Time and Space.

Chronoa’s being is then optimized into a god-intellect core (Manas) for Chloe’s Ultimate Skills, allowing for more stable control over their immense powers.

From this point on, Chloe’s body contains two distinct consciousnesses, Chloe and Chronoa, who share one physical form.

When Chronoa is in control, Chloe’s body assumes its adult hero appearance, and her fighting ability and emotional tone shift accordingly.

In volume 16, Chronoa focuses her entire attention on restraining the King of Hope, which had been hijacked by Feldo Way, to prevent further disaster.

During the battle in the Heavenly Communication Tower, Chloe and Chronoa finally achieve true, complete fusion rather than a simple alternation of personalities.

This unified state allows them to stand as a single, fully integrated being with both childlike sentiment and the unyielding resolve of a godlike hero.

The Incomplete Summoning and Rescue

Chloe is one of five children incompletely summoned into the world, ending up in the care of the academy in the Kingdom of Ingracia.

Because an enormous amount of magicules was forced into her immature human body, she faced eventual death as her body would collapse under the strain.

When Rimuru Tempest comes to the Kingdom of Ingracia in volume 4, he meets Chloe and the other children.

Chloe quickly forms a deep bond with Rimuru, calls him “Teacher,” and quietly falls in love with him.

Rimuru takes Chloe and the other children to the Dwelling of the Spirits, hoping to stabilize their bodies by contracting superior spirits.

Chloe, however, summons an extremely unusual spirit—something far beyond a normal superior spirit, with energy levels even Rimuru’s skill Daikenja (Great Sage) cannot quantify.

This mysterious spirit, containing the soul that will be recognized as Chronoa, fuses with Chloe and becomes the key to her survival.

After this, her body stabilizes enough to avert the imminent death from magicule runaway, though the deeper truth of her identity is only revealed much later.

Before leaving, Rimuru entrusts Chloe with Shizue Izawa’s original Anti-Magic Mask, which becomes her important personal treasure.

Chloe, in turn, treasures the mask as a symbol of her connection to Rimuru and Shizue.

Life in the Jura Tempest Federation

Chloe later transfers to the school in the Jura Tempest Federation and starts living there with Kenya and the other children.

She enjoys a relatively peaceful life as a student, training and studying while surrounded by friends and protected by the Federation’s leaders.

During the Federation’s founding festival in volume 9, she participates in the celebrations and is formally placed under Tempest’s protection.

At this point, most residents see her simply as a promising, magic-rich child who adores Rimuru.

Visit to Lubelius and Time Leap

In volume 11, Chloe accompanies Rimuru to the Holy Empire of Lubelius.

There, Granbell Rosso launches an attack, and Hinata Sakaguchi sacrifices herself to protect Chloe from the devastating attack “Meltdown Strike.”

Chloe is present at Hinata’s dying moments and absorbs Hinata’s soul.

This death becomes the trigger that once again activates her Time Travel skill, causing Chloe to disappear from the current timeline and leap back into the distant past.

In this time leap, Chloe regains the memories of all her previous cycles through “the Wheel of Time.”

She realizes once more that in the original loops, Rimuru dies, the Jura Tempest Federation is destroyed, and Veldora Tempest goes berserk in rage, leading to an apocalyptic outcome.

Determined to avoid that fate, Chloe seeks out Luminous Valentine in the past and tells her about the coming of Veldora, future events, and the looming disasters.

With Luminous’s cooperation, she becomes an active Hero, fighting for over a thousand years and working to shape a future where Rimuru survives.

However, as the moment approaches when her younger self is summoned from the distant future, Chloe’s consciousness can no longer remain stable in that era.

Since two instances of the same soul cannot exist in the same time, she eventually falls asleep in Lubelius’ “Holy Ark,” sealed away by Luminous until the correct future arrives.

The End of the Time Loop

Chloe has lived through the loop of Rimuru’s death and the world’s destruction countless times, always triggered into the past by Hinata’s death.

The exact number of loops is unknown, but each cycle adds to her experience, power, and emotional burden.

In the final loop (the main story timeline), something different happens: the time leap activates before Rimuru dies or disappears.

This irregularity gives Chloe a chance to finally reach a timeline where Rimuru lives and the disastrous future is avoided.

Thanks to Rimuru’s actions and Chloe’s coordinated efforts across time, the “Wheel of Time” is finally broken, and the apparently endless loop comes to an end.

Even after she is freed from repeating history, Chloe chooses to continue living in the Jura Tempest Federation with her friends.

Empire Invasion and Assassination Attempt

When the Eastern Empire invades and various plots converge on Rimuru’s life, Chloe once again steps into the spotlight.

When Jiwu, an assassin attached to Honjou Masayuki’s group, attempts to kill Rimuru, Chloe senses the threat and stands in Jiwu’s way, foiling the assassination.

At the same time, Feldo Way, one of the primordial angels, targets Honjou Masayuki.

Because Chloe possesses King of Hope, she becomes vulnerable to the angels’ “Archangel’s Domination,” and Feldo Way successfully imposes temporary control over her.

Chronoa, however, fights desperately from within to resist this domination.

Chloe, refusing to rely entirely on Rimuru and Shiel (the evolved form of Rimuru’s internal partner skill), chooses to overcome this situation through her own strength.

She explicitly rejects Shiel’s offer to simply fix everything by rewriting her abilities, insisting that if they rely too much on Rimuru, they will never stand on their own.

This decision underlines her desire to stand beside Rimuru as an equal, not as someone who must always be saved by him.

Battle at the Heavenly Communication Tower

Later, Chloe manages to overcome the mental shackles of Feldo Way’s domination, regaining control of herself.

In the Heavenly Communication Tower, she secretly receives a request from Shiel to act as Rimuru’s hidden bodyguard.

When Michael uses time-stopping powers to trap Rimuru, Chloe’s God of Time and Space allows her to oppose this temporal freeze.

She protects Rimuru from the stopped time and faces one of Michael’s parallel existences in a one-on-one duel.

During this battle, Chloe succeeds in defeating Michael’s parallel existence and absorbs the authority of the King of Justice.

This absorption catalyzes the evolution of King of Time and Space into God of Time and Space, further solidifying her position as a transcendent being.

From this point on, Chloe carries both her own and Chronoa’s merged traits.

She even becomes bold enough to surprise Rimuru with a sudden kiss, later bribing Shiel by offering remnants of the King of Hope as a kind of “payment” for going along with her actions.

Rimuru Tempest

Rimuru is Chloe’s beloved “Teacher” and the central figure around whom her entire fate revolves.

From their first meeting, Chloe’s affection for him grows into deep love, motivating her to endure endless loops of time in order to save his life.

She admires Rimuru’s kindness, strength, and willingness to help others, and she wants to stand next to him as an equal, not as a burden.

Her refusal to let Shiel simply rewrite her abilities underscores her desire to grow strong by her own efforts so she can protect Rimuru in return.

Hinata Sakaguchi

Hinata is both a friend and a crucial trigger in Chloe’s story.

In every loop, Hinata’s death becomes the catalyst that activates Chloe’s Time Travel, sending her back into the past.

In the final loop, Chloe absorbs Hinata’s soul at the moment of Hinata’s death, as well as inheriting the “egg” of Hinata’s hero potential.

This merges with Chloe’s own “hero’s egg,” leading to her awakening as a true Hero and adding Hinata’s strength and determination to her own.

Hinata is also the one who gives Chloe the name “Chronoa” when she acts as a Hero in the past.

Through this naming, Chloe acquires the Usurper skill, and Hinata’s influence becomes permanently woven into her existence.

Luminous Valentine

Luminous is one of Chloe’s most important allies and friends in the past.

When Chloe time-leaps two thousand years back, she seeks out Luminous, reveals future events to her, and asks for her cooperation.

Luminous trusts Chloe deeply and, understanding the stakes, works with her to avert the catastrophic future.

Eventually, when Chloe can no longer maintain her consciousness in that timeline, Luminous seals her in the Holy Ark in the Holy Empire of Lubelius, keeping her safe until the correct future arrives.

Luminous’s role is crucial in allowing Chloe to function as a Hero for centuries and to survive long enough to rejoin the main timeline.

Leon Cromwell

Leon Cromwell knew Chloe long before either of them were legendary figures.

He and Chloe were childhood friends who arrived in this world together when Leon first crossed over from another world centuries ago.

However, Chloe was then summoned into the far future right before Leon’s eyes.

This sudden disappearance left Leon devastated and determined to find her again, driving many of his later actions.

In reality, Chloe’s repeated time leaps and her identity as Hero Chronoa mean that she has been influencing the world’s history even while Leon searched for her.

Their intertwined fates underscore the long, complex temporal web that defines Chloe’s story.

Shizue Izawa

Shizue is indirectly connected to Chloe through the Anti-Magic Mask and the looping timeline.

Chloe eventually passes the mask back to Shizue in the past as Hero Chronoa, creating a time paradox: the mask’s existence is a closed loop with no clear origin.

The sequence goes like this:

Rimuru receives the mask as Shizue’s keepsake → Rimuru gives it to Chloe → Chloe time-travels with the mask → Hero Chronoa (Chloe/Hinata) entrusts it to Shizue → Shizue later dies and passes it to Rimuru again.

Thus, the Anti-Magic Mask exists purely as a product of the time loop, and Chloe is a key participant in maintaining this temporal paradox.

Chloe’s true identity and the revelation in volume 11 make it clear that the Anti-Magic Mask is a genuine time paradox.
