He possesses high skills and potential, able to handle any field of activity without difficulty, but has a habit of leaving decisions to others and lacks initiative. Due to his gentle and modest personality, he rarely makes his presence known and often acts together with Reiner, who is from the same hometown. He mentioned that he aimed to become a soldier to join the Military Police Brigade and gain privileges, taking advantage of his athletic ability, but after graduating from the Training Corps, he changed his enlistment from the originally desired Military Police Brigade to the Survey Corps. He is known for having a sleeping posture so bad that it is described as artistic. His true identity is a Titan shifter with the ability to transform into the "Colossal Titan," who destroyed the wall in 845, exposing humanity to the threat of Titans. He was one of the warriors who infiltrated within the walls with Reiner and Annie to reclaim the "Founding Titan." On top of Wall Rose, he transformed into a Titan along with Reiner, who suddenly revealed their true identities, and abducted Eren and Ymir, but Eren was taken back by the Survey Corps and Armin's provocation. Later, he was attacked by a horde of Titans and was saved by Ymir, retreating to the Shiganshina District of Wall Maria. In the final operation to reclaim Wall Maria, he nearly annihilated the Survey Corps with the explosion from his Titan transformation and overwhelmed the surviving Eren and others with his massive body and superheated steam, but was ultimately caught in Armin's sacrificial diversion plan and was captured after Eren, in human form, cut his nape. In his final moments, he was unable to move with his limbs severed and was eaten by the Titanized Armin while pleading for help from his comrades. In his childhood, he was recognized for his shooting ability and selected as a warrior candidate, and from this time, he was close with Reiner and Annie. It is said that his father, who was suffering from an illness, passed away while receiving generous care as an "honorary Marleyan." In the final battle, he appeared as one of the nine Titans of the past, resurrected by the Founding Titan, in the form of the "Colossal Titan." Initially, he became a puppet of Eren and opposed Armin and the others, but responded to Zeke's feelings, who was persuaded by Armin upon reaching the coordinate, and cooperated in the subjugation of the Founding Titan.
