He has feelings for Krista and has entertained thoughts of marriage in his heart. His true identity is the Titan shifter of the "Armored Titan" who destroyed the wall in 845 and attacked humanity. His previously stated origins were a lie, and he was one of the warriors who infiltrated from outside the walls with Bertolt and Annie to reclaim the "Founding Titan." He suddenly revealed his true identity on top of Wall Rose, betraying the Survey Corps, but it became clear that his mind was half-broken due to being torn between the roles of a "soldier" protecting the walls and a "warrior" destroying them.
