Holder of the Future Diary: Yukiteru Diary
The heroine of the story and the protagonist of "Future Diary: Redial." Height 162cm. B92/W70/H91. A girl in the same class as Yukiteru. She is admired by everyone for her beauty, excellent grades, and household skills, but she is actually a stalker in love with Yukiteru. She starts taking action after teaming up to protect Yukiteru from Takao Hiyama. Originally from Misaka Orphanage, she was adopted by the Gasai couple and had no family before that. She has no interest in the throne of God and only wants to be with Yukiteru.
She will sacrifice everything without hesitation for Yukiteru but is indifferent to others. She sees any woman who approaches Yukiteru as an enemy and tries to kill them (often, they are enemies trying to use Yukiteru, like Tsubaki and Hinata). According to Yukiteru, "when her emotional 'switch' is flipped, she behaves irrationally." This often happens when Yukiteru is in danger or things don't go her way. She usually calls Yukiteru "Yukki" (but calls him "Amano-kun" formally at school).
She met Yukiteru a year ago when she stayed behind in the classroom after school, unsure of what to write for a "future dream" survey. Yukiteru, who was also staying behind, shared his unfulfilled dream of "going stargazing with his family," which was impossible due to his parents' divorce. She affirmed his dream and said, "I'll be your future wife so we can go stargazing as a family," which led to her affection for him. She got along well with Yukiteru's mother and was seen as an official couple, but she showed signs of intending to kill Yukiteru's mother if she didn't approve of their relationship.
She tells others that her parents are "on a business trip abroad," but in reality, two of the three corpses in her house are her parents. When she thinks of her mother, she thinks of the corpses at home. This has made her mentally fragile and unstable, and she unconsciously alters her memories to suit her needs when under stress. This mental state resulted from her depressed mother and absent father, and she once believed she would become normal someday.
Her cellphone, the "Yukiteru Diary," records Yukiteru's future every 10 minutes. Though limited, it can achieve "complete foresight" when combined with Yukiteru's "Indiscriminate Diary." However, this also makes the "Yukiteru Diary" Yukiteru's greatest enemy. The diary tends to overly beautify Yukiteru, and it displays the only other ending besides "DEAD END," which is "HAPPY END."
Like Yukiteru, she has no supernatural abilities compared to other diary holders but possesses high intelligence and physical abilities. Her insight and decisive actions are recognized by other holders. She also has a mysterious skill, demonstrated during the fight with Reisuke, where she reads minds as if she became "Bountiful Reisuke."
While she often appears to be helping Yukiteru unilaterally, she also supports him in battles, like against Takao and Minene. Conversely, Yukiteru saves her when she is in danger, such as when she is captured by Tsubaki's cult or poisoned by Reisuke's modified stun gun.
Aru Akise reveals that the third unidentified corpse at the Gasai residence is the "real Yuno Gasai," leading to the deduction that she is an "imposter." However, she is actually the first Yuno who became a god and traveled back in time. In the first timeline, she and Yukiteru became the last diary holders but couldn't kill each other, so she pretended to commit suicide and survived alone, intending to revive Yukiteru as a god. When she learned it was impossible to resurrect the dead, she looped the world, killed the second Yuno, and replaced her.
After being intimate with Yukiteru, he chose the same suicide pact as in the first timeline. She conspired with the first Murmur to obtain Deus's core, traveled to the past, and repeated the game to maintain her life with Yukiteru. She even stabbed her father in the third timeline. However, her feelings for Yukiteru, her encounter with her hopeful self, and seeing her parents protect her third self shook her resolve. She chose to kill herself to save Yukiteru, who tried to save her even in a dream world. In the first timeline, she called Yukiteru "Amano-kun" until she killed the second Yuno and started calling him "Yukki."
In the third timeline, she lived happily with her reconciled parents. However, she retained memories from the first and second timelines given by the first Murmur. She eventually remembered Yukiteru and used her godly powers to break the dimensional barrier, reuniting with the second Yukiteru, who had become nihilistic. They went stargazing together.
As described, she is a "yandere character." While she shows a cute, girlish side, her obsessive love for Yukiteru leads her to imprison him to "maintain happiness" after he confesses to her.
In "Future Diary of Hanako and the Fable," published in the May 2007 issue of "Monthly Shonen Ace," she is treated as a fable by major characters from the previous work "Hanako and the Fable Teller." According to Esuno's test, she is "somehow the protagonist of this work."
Her name originates from Juno, the jealous goddess of marriage and wife of Jupiter in the Capitoline Triad.
