Minami Toba is a new female history teacher at Motosu High School, who first appears in episode 11 of the original Laid-Back Camp series. At first glance, she seems to be a kind and beautiful teacher, but she actually loves drinking alcohol, often gets drunk, and sometimes her speech becomes hard to understand. Before starting her job, she met Rin Shima and Nadeshiko Kagamihara during a camping trip with her younger sister Ryōko Toba. The two students did not realize she was a teacher at that time. Later, Minami becomes the advisor for the Outdoor Activities Club. Although she did not want to be a club advisor at first, she got along well with the members and gradually joined their activities, thanks in part to her own childhood camping experiences. She drives a yellow SUV-type mini-car, is well-known at a local liquor store where she buys a pack of six 500ml cans of beer daily, and got the nickname "Gubi-nee." During the Izu camping trip, she even accepted a challenge to stop drinking for a month. She is caring, responsible, but has a wild side when alcohol is involved.
Minami Toba is known for her gentle appearance, usually keeping her eyes half-closed when at school and not wearing her glasses.

Meeting During Camping
Before starting her job at Motosu High School, Minami went camping with her sister Ryōko Toba.
There, she met Rin Shima and Nadeshiko Kagamihara, without any of them knowing she would soon be Rin and Nadeshiko’s teacher.
Minami was already drunk during their meeting and even tried to give them a bottle of liquor as a thank-you but was stopped by her sister.
Later that night, Minami drank too much and became sick by the lakeside.
Rin happened to see her and, not recognizing Minami, thought she was a ghost cow and got scared.
Becoming the Club Advisor
When Minami started teaching at school, she wore no glasses and squinted.
Rin and Nadeshiko thought she looked familiar but did not realize she was the "drunk lady" from their camping trip.
Soon, Minami became the advisor for the Outdoor Activities Club.
At first, she didn’t want the job because she thought it would take too much time from her personal life.
After learning the club didn't meet that often, she felt better about it.
During an emergency, she rushed out to help Chiaki's group during a dangerous winter camping event and taught them the dangers of winter camping.
Involvement in Club Activities
Minami joins the club in many activities, including winter camping and New Year's visits to shrines.
She often assists with camping trips, sometimes driving club members in her car.
Minami’s Drinking Habits
Every day after work, Minami visits the liquor store where Chiaki works and buys a pack of six large beers.
Because of her love for alcohol, the students call her "Gubi-nee."
Her favorite way to relax is to have a drink at home and watch foreign dramas.
The Izu Camping and Quitting Alcohol
Before the Izu camping trip, Minami was challenged by Chiaki to give up alcohol for a month while the club gave up camping to focus on exams.
She accepted and didn’t drink until the trip but accidentally had alcohol at a hot spring since she forgot she was the driver, so she had to use a driving service to get back.
During this period, she discovered she liked butter cookies.
After the break, she decided it was better to drink less often and enjoyed sweet snacks more.
Minami Toba appears as a guest in the author's other work, "mono," where she became friends with another character over drinks.
A special event dedicated to Minami was held in Yamanashi, where her voice actress and Nao Toyama, voice actress for Rin Shima, participated in a sake-tasting contest.
At the event, Minami's actress won the contest, and people could drink as much sake as they wanted.
Minami is one of the rare teachers who truly cares for her students, and she is loved by the club members even with her funny habits.
