In the year 850, when Titans appeared inside Wall Rose, her mother was attacked by a Titan right in front of her, leaving her unable to move, but she was rescued by Sasha. After that, she was taken in by Sasha's parents.

In the year 854, she works at the Braus stables, which is also her home. She meets Falco and Gabi, who have escaped, and despite knowing they are from Marley, she interacts with them amicably. When she learns that Gabi is the one who killed Sasha, she becomes furious and attacks her, but is stopped by Mikasa. Unlike Sasha's parents, she continued to harbor murderous intent towards Gabi, but during the Marley raid, when she was about to be eaten by a Titan, she was saved by Gabi. When Gabi was suspected of being a Marleyan infiltrator by soldiers, she defended her, and they eventually reconciled.
