Rían Scrimgeour

Introduced in the Academy Arc, 15 years old. Chise's classmate. Heir to the Scrimgeour family, known as the "Seven Shields" guardians. A top student, but overly serious and inflexible. He has decided to abandon his family after graduating from the academy, but others tell him it's not so easy to simply throw away his lineage. He wants to become a sorcerer under Tory's mentorship, but his neighbors reject him due to a rusty smell, indicating he might lack magical talent. He is cousins with Philomela, who was bright and talented as a child, and Rían has never beaten her. Now, he finds it hard to accept Philomela's current state, often becoming irritated and speaking harshly to her.
