Eina Tulle is a major heroine in the light novel series “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?”, a 19-year-old half-elf guild clerk who serves as Bell Cranel’s advisor and is known for her strict motto that “adventurers must not adventure.”
Name: Eina Tulle
Age: 19
Height: 164 cm
Race: Half-elf
Occupation: Guild clerk, adventurer advisor in Orario
Affiliation: The Guild (manager of Orario and the Dungeon)
Family: Elf mother (Aina), human father, younger sister Niina
First appearance role: Bell Cranel’s personal advisor at the Guild counter
Voice actress (anime): Haruka Tomatsu
Eina Tulle works at the Guild that manages both the city of Orario and its Dungeon.
She is in her fifth year of service and combines excellent office skills with high popularity among adventurers.
She is Bell Cranel’s assigned advisor and acts as his primary counselor in all matters related to adventuring and the Dungeon.
Driven by both a sense of duty and personal emotion, she is deeply invested in keeping “her” adventurers alive.
Her mother, an elf named Aina, often falls ill because life outside the elven forest does not suit her constitution.
Eina chose the relatively well-paid Guild job after graduating from the “Academic District” in order to help pay for her mother’s medical expenses.
Eina is serious, diligent, and very caring, with a natural tendency to look after others.
She has almost no romantic experience and focuses on her job, but she herself does not see this as a problem.
She consciously tries not to mix personal feelings with work, yet when it truly matters she is willing to risk punishment to protect an adventurer.
Unlike most receptionists, who keep a safe distance so they will not be hurt by constant deaths, Eina chooses to get involved precisely because she does not want her charges to die.
Her guiding principle is paradoxical but clear: “Adventurers must not adventure.”
By this she means that reckless heroics should be avoided and survival-focused, prepared exploration is the only acceptable “adventure.”
She enjoys teaching and explaining things, and she is very thorough in doing so.
This love of instruction, combined with fear of losing people, pushes her to create extremely strict training for new adventurers.
Eina’s ideal type is a man who is a little unreliable so that she can look after him.
Because she is nurturing and competent, she often attracts confident, capable men instead, which becomes a source of mild frustration for her.
Eina has semi-long brown hair and emerald-green eyes.
Her facial features are refined and beautiful thanks to her elven heritage, and her figure is frequently noted as very attractive within the story.
She wears glasses while on duty at the Guild, giving her a composed, intellectual look.
In private, she usually removes them, which softens her impression and makes her appear more like the “girl next door.”
The glasses were not part of the original author’s concept.
They were added by the original illustrator, Suzuhito Yasuda, and reportedly helped the author further develop Eina’s visual image and personality.
Eina works at the Guild’s front desk, handling paperwork, registrations, and daily consultations.
In addition, she is one of the staff members who formally train and advise adventurers, especially beginners.
Her teaching style is notoriously strict and demanding.
Adventurers who go through her curriculum refer to it as “Fairy’s Trial (Fairy Break)”, both in fear and respect.
Every adventurer she had been assigned before Bell eventually “ran away” from her training.
Bell is the only one who endured her Spartan methods from start to finish.
Despite her severity, Eina’s goal is entirely protective.
She drills basic knowledge, Dungeon ecology, risk assessment, and survival tactics into her charges until they can’t forget it even under extreme stress.
She sometimes even issues quests herself and accompanies parties into the Dungeon in order to observe and guide them directly.
This willingness to step into the adventurers’ world marks her as unusual among Guild workers.
At the age of six, when her sister Niina was born, Eina entered the “Academic District,” an elite educational institution.
She majored in the general education curriculum and excelled academically, especially in the highly difficult “Comprehensive Theology” course that deals with divine hieroglyphs.
The pass rate for Comprehensive Theology is below ten percent, yet she mastered it to the point of being able to partially decipher hieroglyphs.
Her academic achievements were so outstanding that many people still remembered her even after graduation.
Due to poor physical aptitude, she decided against becoming an adventurer herself and focused on theory.
Upon graduating, she leveraged her academic record to secure a coveted recommendation slot into the Guild of Orario—the “center of the world”—which she regarded as a great honor.
Her first assigned adventurer was a rookie girl named Maris Haccard.
Their initial meeting went badly, devolving into mutual insults despite Eina’s usual poise, but over time they reconciled and grew friendly as Eina gained experience and more clients.
Her supervisor, Raemel, eventually warned her: “Don’t get emotionally attached to adventurers.”
Eina did not understand at first, until she returned home one day and saw Maris’s entire party brought back as corpses after being wiped out by an Infant Dragon, a top-tier upper-floor monster.
The shock caused Eina to collapse on the spot.
After that, one by one, all the adventurers she was responsible for died, forcing her to truly grasp her superior’s warning.
She briefly considered quitting, feeling powerless to stop adventurers’ reckless bravery.
However, she realized that abandoning them would be even more painful, and instead made a conscious decision: if others would hide behind polite masks, she would step forward and fight to keep them alive.
Her initial excitement about working at the “world’s center” transformed into a sense of mission.
She started running her own lectures, creating harsh training regimens, and even joining Dungeon excursions, all to ensure that the adventurers under her care would survive.
These experiences forged the Eina who later meets Bell Cranel.
By the time he arrives in Orario, she has already spent years watching idealistic rookies die and has resolved to do everything possible to prevent that fate from befalling him.
From the start of the main story, Eina is Bell Cranel’s assigned Guild advisor.
Initially she sees him as a naive rookie needing guidance and cares for him like a slightly hopeless younger brother.
She handles his registration personally and is present when he first declares his dream of becoming an adventurer.
Senior colleagues like Rose tell her bluntly that, based on his initial stats and demeanor, Bell will probably die young.
To cope with the constant risk of loss, her coworkers start a darkly humorous bet on how long Bell will survive.
Eina is disgusted by the idea of gambling on a client’s life; instead, she volunteers to be Bell’s advisor and silently vows to never let him die.
Soon after, Bell disobeys her instructions and goes down to the fifth floor, where he encounters the Minotaur left behind by Loki Familia.
When he returns, drenched in blood but alive, Eina scolds him harshly for disregarding her advice while simultaneously being relieved that he survived.
She pushes him to upgrade his equipment and even accompanies him to a Hephaistos Familia shop, where she helps arrange new armor.
Later, when Bell starts working with Liliruca Arde of the problematic Soma Familia, Eina’s prior investigation of that Familia makes her deeply suspicious and protective.
She wants Hestia to warn Bell and tries to expose Soma Familia’s abusive structure without ignoring the danger.
Her efforts contribute to Soma being effectively banned from brewing his mind-altering wine.
Eina tracks Bell’s growth closely and understands his status values fairly well, apart from the exact nature of his skills.
She discovers that Bell has manifested “Luck,” an unprecedented rare ability, and deliberately hides this from the thrill-seeking gods to keep him from becoming an even bigger target.
The Guild upper management orders Eina to uncover the secret of Bell’s explosive growth.
However, any honest report of his exploits would read like a suicidal instruction manual: solo charges into kill-zones, defeating absurdly strong monsters, and impossible challenges like “go fight and defeat a Minotaur you should never be able to beat.”
As a result, her detailed growth reports about Bell are repeatedly shelved.
She can do little except worry as he continues to hurl himself into life-threatening situations.
Over time, Eina’s feelings shift.
She still scolds and frets about him, but each time Bell grows and survives, she celebrates his achievements with pride that feels increasingly personal.
After witnessing his crushing defeat at the hands of Asterius—a battle where Bell gives everything and ends up crying from frustration—Eina finally realizes that her feelings for him are romantic, not sisterly.
She knows full well that Bell admires Ais Wallenstein, but she cannot deny her own emotions anymore.
Later, when Bell becomes a first-class adventurer and one of Orario’s leading figures, Eina feels a bittersweet sense of distance.
She believes there is less and less she can teach him as an advisor and begins to feel left behind, even while still worrying deeply about him.
She eventually invites Bell to dinner as an apology and a thank-you, planning what is essentially a date.
Bell, oblivious, casually invites Welf Crozzo and Liliruca Arde and chooses the busy tavern Hostess of Fertility, crushing her hopes for a one-on-one evening and leaving her stunned and quietly heartbroken.
Despite her frustration, Eina continues to support him from the Guild side.
She is moved almost to tears when she informs him that his Familia rank has risen to B (though the upper brass effectively regard Hestia Familia as rank S due to his power and achievements).
Convinced that her knowledge cannot keep up with his current level, she tells Bell that she may not be able to help him as before.
When Bell tries to deny this, she gently points out that the world he now sees is very different from hers and urges him to rest and enjoy some peace while he can.
Death of Her Early Charges
The death of Maris Haccard’s party, torn apart by an Infant Dragon on the upper floors, is a defining trauma for Eina.
Seeing their bodies dragged out of the Dungeon makes her physically collapse and marks the point when she truly understands how fragile rookie adventurers are.
The subsequent deaths of other adventurers under her care reinforce the lesson.
These experiences are what drive her to become a “Spartan” advisor who refuses to sugarcoat danger.
This past also explains why she reacts so strongly to Bell’s reckless actions.
Every time he ignores her advice, she is reliving the fear of losing yet another adventurer she cares about.
The “Xenos” Incident and the Slap
During the incident surrounding the sentient monsters known as Xenos, Bell chooses a path that isolates him from most of Orario.
Eina, kept in the dark, is devastated that he will not confide in her and ends up slapping him in anger and hurt.
Immediately afterward, she is overwhelmed by guilt for striking him.
She becomes withdrawn and depressed, blaming herself for crossing that line.
When Bell does not show his face at the Guild for a long time, her worry and frustration boil over.
Ignoring her superiors’ attempts to stop her, she uses a patrol as a pretext to rush out and find him herself.
However, Hermes manipulates the situation, giving Eina a special ring that turns her into a pawn in his “hero restoration” scheme for Bell.
Wearing the ring, she becomes the intended sacrificial victim to sabotage coexistence with the Xenos and has her life threatened by the lizardman swordsman Gros.
Bell’s desperate fight to protect Eina, and his refusal to give up on talking with Gros even while battling him, ultimately resolves the crisis without her death.
Immediately afterward, Eina witnesses Bell’s fateful duel with Asterius and his tearful defeat, leading her to fully recognize her love for him.
Memory Manipulation by Freya
When Freya enchants the entire city and rewrites memories so that Bell becomes recognized as part of Freya Familia, Eina is affected as well.
Under this altered reality, she treats Bell coldly and denies ever being his advisor, explaining—correctly under that system—that Freya Familia does not use Guild advisors.
Yet something feels wrong to her.
Driven by a vague sense of loss, she searches Guild records and finds her own “Bell Cranel Advisor Diary.”
Although she has no conscious memories to match the events described, she reads about their shared experiences and her feelings in her own handwriting.
The emotional impact is so strong that she bursts into tears over memories she technically no longer has.
Freya discovers her reading the diary and confiscates it, again rewriting Eina’s memories.
Later, when Freya’s charm finally wears off, Eina flees the confused Guild building, filled with self-loathing and anger at Freya, and runs in tears toward Bell.
She then watches the all-out “War Game” between an alliance led by Hestia Familia and Freya Familia.
The spectacle is closer to a brutal war than a game, and seeing Bell savagely beaten by Ottar makes her break down crying in the stands.
As Ryuu Lion, Mia, and others join the fight and Hedin Selland switches sides to help Bell, the tide turns.
Eina continues to cheer for Bell with all her heart, terrified that he may be killed before her eyes.
After the War Game and the “Faction War”
Following Freya Familia’s defeat and the so-called “Faction War” events, Eina is the one to formally inform Bell that Hestia Familia has been promoted to rank B.
Off the record, she adds that the Guild’s upper echelons already treat them as rank S due to their power and accomplishments.
This official recognition of Bell as a first-class adventurer both fills her with pride and deepens her sense of distance.
She feels that the gap between what she can see and what he experiences has become immense.
She nonetheless encourages him to take things easy for a while.
As a lighthearted break, she suggests visiting the massive floating ship Flinghorni of the visiting Academic District, docked in the area of Melen.
On the way, Bell is abducted by Hermes for his own schemes, and Eina once again finds herself dealing with chaos surrounding her favorite problem child.
At the same time, Eina is brought into high-level Guild meetings as a future senior figure, partly because she successfully mentored a first-class adventurer.
Opposition to the “Shaft Plan”
During a Guild strategy meeting, Guildmaster Royman Maldir announces the “Shaft Plan”: opening a vertical shaft with an elevator providing a shortcut directly to the Deep Floors.
Many executives are intoxicated by the possible wealth and prestige of a project rivaling the construction of Babel Tower.
Eina, however, is alarmed.
She points out the obvious risks: unknown calamities triggered by tampering with the Dungeon, political backlash, and the long-term harm to adventurer development if they can skip the natural progression of floors.
She gathers her courage and openly objects, but Royman counters that the plan carries the divine approval of Uranus and is therefore effectively decided.
Eina is unsettled that even Uranus would endorse a project with such clear dangers and remains deeply uneasy about the plan’s implications.
Aina (Mother) and Eina’s Father
Eina’s mother, Aina, is an elf who once served as Riveria Ljos Alf’s attendant.
During their travels, Aina met and married a human man who later became Eina’s father.
Because life outside the elven forest does not suit Aina’s body, she often falls ill.
This chronic condition is a major reason Eina works at the Guild: she needs money to help cover her mother’s treatments.
The family name “Tulle” likely comes from her father.
The small family of four—Eina, her parents, and Niina—has good relationships overall, even if distance and duty keep them apart.
Riveria Ljos Alf
Riveria Ljos Alf, a royal elf and powerful mage, is a longtime friend of Eina’s mother.
Because of this, Eina has known Riveria since childhood and respects her as a member of elven royalty.
Riveria, however, cautions Eina not to overdo the reverence and to treat her more casually.
Their relationship is a blend of mentor-figure and family friend, linking Eina indirectly to the mighty Loki Familia.
Niina Tulle (Younger Sister)
Niina is six years younger than Eina and also attends the Academic District.
Due to timing and distance, the sisters pass each other like ships in the night and barely interact for years.
Eina joins the Academic District when Niina is born, then leaves for Orario after graduation.
By the time Eina returns home for a visit, Niina herself has already gone off to the Academic District, creating a pattern of constant near-misses.
They maintain some contact through letters, but the letters suddenly stop at one point.
Eina fears that Niina has come to dislike her and becomes extremely anxious about meeting her again.
When the Academic District visits Orario, Eina spots Niina at Guild headquarters and tries to speak with her.
Niina runs away, reinforcing Eina’s belief that her sister hates her and plunging her into deep sadness.
Bell, in disguise as “Lappi Flemish,” witnesses this and later invites Eina out to talk, giving her a chance to open up.
Over a meal, Eina changes into casual clothes and confides in him about her fears regarding Niina, only for their conversation to be interrupted by Hestia and others storming in after hearing a rumor that a “seductive woman” is with Bell.
Later, after a cave-in incident in the middle floors of the Dungeon, Niina returns safely to the surface and waits for Eina.
They finally meet properly as sisters, and Niina apologizes for running away and reveals her own worries and struggles.
Eina breaks down in tears when she realizes she was not hated.
She is delighted to hear that Niina has found a dream and good companions at the Academic District.
However, her relief turns into shock when she learns that Niina’s “good influence” is none other than Bell Cranel, and that Niina wants to join Hestia Familia.
Panicking, Eina blurts out that Bell is in love with Ais Wallenstein in an attempt to dissuade her, but Niina does not listen and runs off excitedly.
When Niina later goes to Hestia Familia for a “faction internship,” Eina accompanies her as an observer.
Unable to contain her jealousy, she tells Niina again that Bell already has feelings for Ais, acting a little petty and very un-older-sister-like.
Friends and Colleagues at the Guild
Misha Flott is Eina’s fellow clerk and longtime friend from their Academic District days.
They are often seen together, and Eina frequently helps Misha with work because Misha is less efficient and organized.
Rose and other senior receptionists at the Guild help Eina cope with the stress of adventurer deaths.
Their morbid bet on Bell’s lifespan is meant as a coping mechanism, but Eina finds it deeply distasteful regardless.
About half a year after Bell starts his adventuring career, everyone’s prediction about his early death turns out to be wrong.
Eina wins the bet by default, but when Rose and the others try to gloss over it and keep the money, Eina pushes back.
Already unhappy with the idea of having gambled on a client’s life, she takes the accumulated winnings and uses them for a different purpose.
As both apology and celebration, she invites Bell out for a generous dinner, leading to the “failed date” incident at Hostess of Fertility.
Royman Maldir, an elven Guildmaster, looks down on Eina because she is a half-elf.
He often treats her with condescension and makes snide remarks, and their relationship remains strained, especially when she questions the Shaft Plan or witnesses his breakdown after Loki Familia’s deep-floor disaster.
During that crisis, when Loki Familia’s expedition party returns in tatters and Ais is missing, Royman collapses into despair over the apparent failure of the “surface world’s dream.”
Eina snaps him out of it with a sharp rebuke, forcing him to regain his composure and fulfill his role as Guildmaster.
Romantic Interests in Eina
Two second-class adventurers are explicitly shown to be infatuated with Eina: Luviss Lirix, an elf, and Dolmul Bolster, a dwarf.
Both were once her clients but fled her harsh “Fairy’s Trial” training.
Despite their rivalry and constant bickering with each other, they remain united in pursuing Eina’s affection.
However, when they eventually hear that Eina’s “type” is someone like Bell—slightly unreliable and in need of care—they realize they never had a chance and suffer a joint heartbreak.
Academic District’s Visit and Student Turmoil
When the Academic District’s massive floating ship, Flinghorni, docks near Melen, Eina is involved both as a Guild representative and as Niina’s older sister.
The visit becomes entangled with the Guild’s Shaft Plan and with rising tensions between students and the Guild.
Royman’s decision to forcibly requisition the students’ orichalcum, one of the hardest metals, enrages the Academic District.
A student uprising erupts in response, and Eina is both appalled and unsurprised, having already criticized the Guild’s short-sightedness.
She remains one of the few voices consistently worried about the long-term consequences of the Guild’s policies.
Her perspective is grounded not in ambition or politics but in the safety and development of adventurers.
Orario Piad and Deep-Floor Disaster
After the City Athletic Festival “Orario Piad” concludes, Loki Familia returns from a disastrous expedition.
Eina happens to be present when Raul Nord and others stagger back to the surface, battered and traumatized.
She turns pale when she sees their condition and immediately senses that something has gone terribly wrong in the Deep Floors.
When Bell panics at Ais Wallenstein’s absence and moves to demand answers from Raul, Eina restrains him in a tight hug to stop him from worsening the situation.
This scene is later misinterpreted by Lefiya Viridis as Eina and Bell “flirting” in public.
The misunderstanding adds a bit of comedic tension between Eina and members of Loki Familia.
During the subsequent rescue operation for Loki Familia, the whole Guild is thrown into chaos.
While most staff scramble, Eina plays a crucial role in supporting Liliruca Arde, who serves as the tactical coordinator for the mission.
At the same time, Royman again loses his composure, ranting that the world’s dream has been shattered by Finn Deimne’s presumed failure.
Eina once more scolds him sharply, helping him regain enough stability to function as Guildmaster during the crisis.
Through all of these events, Eina remains what she has always been at her core: a serious, kind, and stubbornly protective advisor who will go far beyond her job description to keep the people she cares about alive.
