Character Setting

Edit

Finn Deimne is a major character from the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? franchise, the commander of the Loki Familia, and one of Orario’s most famous first-class adventurers, renowned as the “Braver” despite being a member of the physically weakest race, the Pallum.

Name: Finn Deimne

True given name: Finn (self-chosen); birth name is Dimna, used originally as a family name

Race: Pallum (dwarf-kin, small people)

Gender: Male

Age: 42

Height: 119 cm

Occupation: Adventurer, commander (captain) of the Loki Familia

Affiliation: Loki Familia

Level: Initially Level 6, later promoted to Level 7

Alias (Second Name): Braver

Voice Actor (Japanese): Mutsumi Tamura

First contracted god: Loki

Origin of concept: Loosely based on the hero Finn MacCool from Celtic mythology

Finn Deimne is the long-serving captain of the Loki Familia, the largest and one of the most powerful factions in Orario.

He is one of the three senior leaders of the familia alongside Riveria Ljos Alf and Gareth Landrock.

He became Loki’s first follower when he was 14 years old, forming the core of what would become the city’s largest familia.

Though a Pallum, a race often derided as the weakest among mortals, he rose to become a rare first-class adventurer.

At the start of the main story he is already Level 6, a top-tier adventurer in Orario’s hierarchy.

After the end of the “Orgius Saga” and the defeat of the city-destroying conspirator Enyo, he is promoted to Level 7.

His chosen name “Finn” comes from a word meaning “light” among his family, adopted when he was 10 years old.

He took it as a vow to become a beacon for the Pallum race and to devote his life to his clan’s revival.

Finn also serves as the protagonist of the “Knights of Fianna” arc in the mobile game DanMachi: Memoria Freese.

His character concept draws inspiration from the legendary Celtic hero Finn MacCool, especially in themes of leadership, foresight, and “thumb of knowledge” intuition.

Finn looks like a small, delicate boy with golden hair and blue eyes, giving him a youthful, almost childlike appearance.

In reality, he is a 42-year-old veteran whose experience rivals that of any adventurer in Orario.

His compact, slender build is typical of Pallum, but his presence is anything but small.

Combined with his calm demeanor and composed movements, he is often described as both “cool and cute,” especially by female adventurers.

His youthful looks are not a natural trait of Pallum biology, but a side effect of the “Falna,” the gods’ blessing.

Frequent level-ups slow physical aging and keep the body near its physical prime, allowing him to remain boyish in appearance despite his age.

Finn reveres an imaginary Pallum goddess named Fianna, a symbolic figure of his race.

He aims to become a new symbol in her place, a living legend who can restore pride to a people who are often despised by other races.

His decision to become an adventurer is driven less by personal glory and more by a desire to give courage to Pallum across the world.

Every achievement, every title, and every victory is calculated to feed into a larger plan: the revival of his clan and race.

He personally requested the alias “Braver,” convincing Loki to secure it for him in the Denatus naming council.

Because this name was engineered rather than “naturally” bestowed by the gods’ whim, Finn has long viewed himself as a kind of “artificial hero.”

He constantly monitors how others see him, consciously acting in ways befitting his title and role as the “Braver.”

To many, he appears as a perfect, universally appealing model leader, but he himself calls this persona a “mask.”

Beneath the mask, Finn is a pragmatic realist who will choose the option that best serves his goals, even if it means sacrificing allies.

He is willing to use ruthless strategies, cut away liabilities, and trade kindness for results when the stakes demand it.

This harsh self-awareness leads to bouts of self-loathing.

He sees how much he has come to value reputation and self-preservation, and sometimes despises himself for being so calculating.

In contrast, Bell Cranel’s way of life—risking everything to help others, refusing to abandon his ideals even when it hurts him—strikes Finn as dazzling.

He regards Bell as a “true hero,” someone who walks the path he himself had abandoned.

Finn is also thinking about his legacy in a fairly practical way.

He wants children who can carry on his bloodline and his mission, so he actively looks for a Pallum bride—even if with very limited success.

Because his conditions for a future spouse are strict, and because Tione Hiryute’s intense pursuit tends to scare off other candidates, this search is not going well.

Still, Finn seems to find noisy, hectic days with Tione strangely comfortable, especially after he gets used to her constant affection.

Finn is the central pillar of the Loki Familia’s internal structure.

His charisma, tactical brilliance, and reliability make him the natural focal point of the group.

He excels at battlefield command, forming precise strategies and adapting them on the fly.

He reads the flow of combat quickly, turning scattered individuals into a coordinated fighting force.

Finn is also a genius at morale management.

He often stands at the front, calling out provocative or challenging lines that ignite his comrades’ fighting spirit.

His famous battle cries include lines like “Let me ask you: do you have courage?” and “Is imitating Bell Cranel too heavy a burden for you?”

These words push his allies to aim higher while acknowledging their fears, a balance that makes his leadership feel both demanding and reassuring.

He possesses extraordinary perception and analytical ability.

With minimal information he can reconstruct the overall situation, foresee enemy intentions, and prepare responses.

In addition to his intellect, he has an uncanny “thumb intuition”: when danger approaches, his thumb starts to ache.

This gives him an almost supernatural danger sense, enabling him to make life-saving decisions at critical moments.

The main downside to his perfection is that the entire Loki Familia tends to rely on him too much.

If anything were to happen to Finn, the organization would struggle to function, and some characters openly admit the familia might become impossible to reorganize.

Another flaw is that he often excludes any option that could damage his or the familia’s reputation.

This habit can restrict his decision-making and make him slower to consider morally messy but ultimately better solutions.

Loki

Loki is Finn’s goddess and the founder of the Loki Familia.

Their relationship started as a mutual-interest partnership, but has grown into a bond of deep trust.

Loki calls herself Finn’s biggest supporter and genuinely roots for his success.

She often stays in the background, letting Finn take the lead and carry the flag of “Braver” in the mortal world.

Riveria Ljos Alf and Gareth Landrock

Riveria and Gareth are Finn’s fellow “Three Leaders” of the Loki Familia.

All three are the oldest members and have shared countless battles together.

In the early days, tensions existed due to racial and personality differences, and they initially saw Finn as an uppity Pallum.

Over time, however, they built a strong friendship and mutual respect.

Riveria and Gareth can read subtle changes in Finn’s moods that others miss.

They frequently support him when his facade slips or his burdens become too heavy.

Tione Hiryute

Tione Hiryute is one of the Loki Familia’s top Amazons and has been madly in love with Finn for years.

Her feelings began after she challenged him to a single combat as a condition to join the familia and lost.

Since then she has aggressively pursued him, often to the point of overwhelming everyone around her.

Finn, however, does not consider her as a marriage candidate because she is not a Pallum.

Despite being occasionally flustered or pushed backward by her intensity, Finn never treats Tione’s feelings lightly.

He genuinely appreciates her devotion and has grown accustomed to her presence, finding comfort in their chaotic daily life.

Later, in the depths of the “Thousand Azure Garden” on the 60th–61st floors, Tione is turned into a “warden” by a spiritual ice domain and mental corruption.

To save her without killing her, Finn risks everything, resists the mental contamination with his skills, and literally kisses her back to her senses, using her overflowing affection to break the curse.

Raul Nord

Raul Nord is one of the Loki Familia’s older but still growing members.

He is not yet fully mature in mind or body, but Finn sees in him a different kind of courage and leadership.

Raul has a knack for encouraging comrades in a way distinct from Finn’s own style.

Because of this, Finn considers him a strong candidate to succeed him as the next captain.

During the battle against the murderous spirit-born monster Reginus, Raul sacrifices himself to block a devastating “flare” attack meant to wipe everyone out.

He is later revealed to have survived thanks to the help of a Carbuncle Xenos named Carl.

Ottar

Ottar, the captain of the Freya Familia, is both Finn’s long-standing rival and a peculiar kind of friend.

Their history dates back to when the Zeus and Hera Familias still existed in Orario.

They are on opposite sides of many power balances in the city, yet share an old bond.

When they meet individually, they can converse normally without immediate hostility.

During the Xenos and Enyo arcs, Finn repeatedly factors Ottar’s presence and likely actions into his strategies.

Later, Finn negotiates with him directly to secure Freya Familia support for a large expedition against the corrupted spirit.

Other Notable Figures

Finn has a complicated web of relationships across the city:

Leon Vardenberg: Another long-term acquaintance and “bad connection” dating back to the age of the Zeus and Hera Familias.

Gulliver Brothers: Powerful Pallum warriors in a hostile faction. They dislike Finn’s self-appointed “representative of all Pallum” attitude but still respond with impressive coordination when forced to fight alongside him.

Valetta Grede: An evil faction executive and Finn’s long-time nemesis, locked with him in a prolonged war of order versus chaos.

Lila: A fellow Pallum who pursued Finn for a “good marriage,” but whom Finn found unsettling and continually dodged. He has a strange impression that she was his subordinate in a previous life.

Liliruca Arde: A young Pallum adventurer who catches Finn’s eye as a sign of Pallum revival. Her courage in seeking help during a Minotaur attack moves him so much that he actually proposes to her. She declines, but Finn continues to look after her as a valued fellow Pallum; later lore implies she was his older sister in a previous life.

Bell Cranel: A key catalyst in Finn’s personal evolution. Finn admires Bell’s victory over a one-horned Minotaur and later his transformation from “hero” to “fool” and back into an “irregular hero” during the Xenos incident.

Rei: A siren Xenos who saves Finn’s life more than once. Finn later entrusts messages and strategic roles to her during the fight against the corrupted spirit.

Fels: The mysterious mage who acts as spokesperson for the Xenos. Finn bargains with Fels to form a temporary alliance, joking that if his reputation falls to zero, he will simply climb back up as “the first man to achieve harmony with intelligent monsters.”

Parents and Childhood

As a child, Finn despised his parents for their subservient attitude toward other races.

He vowed never to become as pitiable and submissive as they seemed.

However, when their village was attacked by monsters, his parents sacrificed their lives to protect him.

Witnessing their final moments, Finn discovered the concept of “courage”—a light born even in despair.

This event became the root of his mission to embody courage for all Pallum.

It also lies at the heart of his refusal, for a long time, to accept any peaceful coexistence with monsters.

Melissa and Early Connections

Before becoming Loki’s child, Finn was close to a Pallum girl named Melissa in the village of Predelica.

They shared a good relationship, but an incident shortly after Finn joined Loki’s familia severed their connection.

This loss further pushed Finn to live for an abstract “Pallum people” rather than for individuals from his past.

Later revelations about his previous life tie many of these relationships together in a deeper reincarnation narrative.

Early Appearances and Bell’s Growth

Finn appears prominently in both the main series and the side story Sword Oratoria: Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side.

He is usually seen coordinating Loki Familia expeditions and serving as a steady center in crises.

During the Loki Familia’s second major expedition, Finn, Riveria, Ais Wallenstein, Tione Hiryute, Tiona Hiryute, and Bete Loga witness Bell Cranel defeating a one-horned Minotaur alone.

When Bell jumps from Level 1 to Level 2 and then Level 3 in rapid succession, Finn agrees with Riveria’s suspicion that Bell possesses the rare skill “Argonaut” (officially “Liaris Freese” in lore), but adds, “There is no way someone relying only on a special ability could fight like that.”

Knossos and the Evil Faction

When the Evilus remnants take shelter in the artificial dungeon Knossos, Finn leads the Loki Familia’s early incursions.

He encounters Valetta Grede there and is ambushed by Revis, a monster-like “creature” with terrifying strength.

Finn hesitates to use his high-boost berserk magic “Hel Finnegras” because its use implies abandoning command and risking his entire unit.

This hesitation leads to him being severely injured and his squad falling into a desperate situation.

Simultaneously, Gareth’s group loses several members, including Leene, prompting Finn, Gareth, and Riveria to face their own hubris and complacency.

This failure marks a turning point, pushing Finn toward more desperate and riskier plans.

Because Knossos is sealed and accessible only via “Daedalus Orbs,” and because the Evilus faction has locked themselves inside, time is running out for Orario.

Finn becomes increasingly impatient and contemplates provoking a conflict with the Freya Familia through Tammuz Belili of the Ishtar Familia to obtain a Daedalus Orb.

The Xenos Incident

When weapon-wielding monsters known as Xenos attack the Rivira town on the 18th floor, the Guild issues a forced mission to the Ganesha Familia while ordering all other familias to stand by.

Finn finds this suspicious and, analyzing information from Loki and others, deduces that the incident is unrelated to Evilus and tied to a secret arrangement involving Uranus, Hermes, and Ganesha.

Hearing from Lefiya Viridis that Hermes Familia’s Lulune mentioned the Ikelos Familia’s monster-smuggling, Finn correctly identifies the Ikelos Familia as the cause of the crisis.

Deciding that inaction would make future attacks on Knossos impossible, he defies the Guild’s orders and sets up an ambush in Daedalus Street.

There, he is shocked to see Bell Cranel openly opposing him to defend Wiene, a vouivre Xenos.

Despite this, Finn orders the capture of Wiene and the other Xenos who surface, only for the plan to fail when a black Minotaur appears and causes chaos.

After interrogating the god Ikelos, Finn confirms that intelligent monsters do exist.

But he faces a dilemma: aligning with them risks his familia’s trust and reputation, while ignoring them guarantees further conflict.

Finn therefore designs a dual-layered plan:

On the surface, Loki Familia will occupy Daedalus Street and guard the entrance to Knossos.

Secretly, they will use the Xenos on Daedalus Street as bait to lure out Evilus and seize the Orcus they need.

He then approaches Bell, telling him that their earlier confrontation was due to a “minor misunderstanding,” and suggests they talk.

Hermes interferes, muddling the situation, but Finn does notice that Hermes is carrying a Daedalus Orb and resolves to act.

Internally, Finn agonizes over the contrast between his engineered “Braver” status and Bell’s willingness to embrace disgrace to protect the Xenos.

He concludes that, for him, coexistence with monsters is impossible: without monsters, his parents would have lived, and “Finn” the hero of Pallum might never have been born.

He resolves that, no matter what Bell says, he will extract information about the Xenos and ultimately kill Wiene.

Ironically, Bell’s decision to act like a “fool” and oppose the world is what ends up saving Wiene’s life.

Bell’s “Third Choice” and Finn’s Breaking Point

Later, Hermes arranges a stage where Bell appears to fight a gargoyle Xenos named Gros in a scripted “hero versus monster” scenario to repair Bell’s public image.

Finn arrives early with several Loki Familia members and quickly sees through this as a contrived farce.

In his heart he dismisses the scene as “a farce” and prepares to eliminate the Xenos.

However, in a sudden moment, Bell lowers his weapon, and Gros stops his attack at the same time.

This brief instant reveals the truth: Gros is prepared to die for Bell’s sake, and Bell is willing to throw away victory to trust Gros.

Finn realizes that Bell has found a “third option” beyond his own binary thinking of humans versus monsters and hero versus villain.

Bell rejects both the guaranteed “hero” role and the safe path, choosing reckless belief and solidarity with monsters.

To Finn, this appears incredibly foolish and yet blindingly brilliant—like someone smashing the scales themselves rather than choosing one side.

Immediately after, Asterius arrives, guided by Ottar and Freya’s will, to challenge Bell to a rematch.

Watching Bell and Asterius’s battle, Finn realizes that Asterius is not a mindless engine of destruction but a warrior seeking a worthy opponent.

He recalls his own words from the Demi-Spirit battle, when he taunted his allies with, “Is imitating Bell Cranel too much for you?”

Now those words turn back on him, and he laughs at himself for being unable to live up to the standard he casually set.

Witnessing Bell carve a path back from “fool” to “hero,” Finn recovers the ideals he had buried.

He resolves to break his own shell, surpass the mythic Fianna, and pursue not just the “best possible compromise” but the “highest possible ideal”—to become a true hero himself.

Alliance with the Xenos and the Orgius Saga

After this inner shift, Finn leads a new assault on Knossos.

He intervenes when Riveria’s fairy unit is trapped in a chaotic battle with both Evilus and the Xenos, and works with Riveria and Gareth to fight Revis, who is empowered by cursed tools.

They eventually withdraw, and Finn has the severely wounded siren Xenos Rei treated.

He then invites Fels and the Xenos to fight alongside Loki Familia, proposing a joint operation.

When Fels warns that their connection might be exposed and Finn’s reputation could be destroyed, Finn answers boldly.

If that happens, he says, he will simply climb back up again—this time as the first person in history to achieve true coexistence with monsters.

His attitude in that moment is shameless, to the point of making everyone present gape in disbelief.

Yet his expression shows that something has been cleansed; he is “unshackled,” having finally abandoned the narrow constraints of reputation.

Upon returning, Finn gathers all Loki Familia members and openly declares that they will temporarily cooperate with weapon-wielding monsters.

As expected, many are shocked or displeased, but he frames it as a one-time “use” of the Xenos, focused on defeating Evilus and saving Orario.

Aki, a trusted senior member, supports the plan once she understands Finn’s intent.

Alicia, who was saved by Rei during the previous Knossos battle, reveals that fact, helping others accept the idea despite lingering doubts.

During the first large-scale Knossos battle, Enyo’s machinations cause the god Dionysus to be forcibly sent back to heaven, sealing his followers’ Falna.

At the same time, a torrent of green flesh from the Demi-Spirit floods the battlefield and threatens to consume everyone.

Trapped with Loki inside a collapsing space, Finn tries to escape through a hole to the surface opened by Dionysus’s return-beam.

Near the surface, they are ambushed by carnivorous flowers called Violas; Finn throws Loki to Tione and destroys the attacker but is almost swallowed by the green flesh.

Just before he dies, Rei arrives and rescues him, allowing him and the others to survive.

Thanks to Finn’s decision to ally with the Xenos, humanity manages to seize a path into the future that would otherwise have closed.

In the second Knossos offensive, Finn initially takes charge of one of the six altar supports of the Demi-Spirit’s “Spirit Altars.”

When Allen Fromel of the Freya Familia arrives as reinforcement, Finn hands over his local role and shifts to overall command of all six fronts.

Liliruca Arde then offers to take command of two of the units to lighten his load.

Trusting in her tactical sense, Finn agrees and delegates authority accordingly.

Later, when the corrupted dragon Nidhogg appears as Enyo’s true trump card, Finn counters with Orario’s own trump card: Bell Cranel.

He orders Rei to carry Bell to Nidhogg, betting on Bell’s ability to break the stalemate.

Ultimately, all the Demi-Spirits and Nidhogg are destroyed, and Enyo—revealed to be Dionysus—is sent back to heaven.

With the Orgius Saga concluded, Finn, Riveria, and Gareth all reach Level 7.

However, because of the chaos that follows—including Freya’s attempted coup—Finn delays announcing their promotions to avoid distracting the familia.

The news is only shared after Lefiya completes a recruitment drive for the “Academy” program.

Freya’s Coup and the Faction War

When Freya enchants almost the entire city and launches a coup, the Guild forbids the Loki Familia from joining the ensuing Faction War.

Finn confronts Guild master Royman, protesting the decision.

Royman insists that a direct clash between the two largest familias could devastate Orario and doom the future fight against the Black Dragon.

Pressed, he reveals a hidden bargaining chip: the Guild will reveal information about the “Thousand Azure Garden” below the 60th floor if Loki Familia stays out.

Finn understands that if he intervenes, the Hestia Familia would be disqualified as “cheaters,” and Riveria—who is desperate for information about the Garden—might turn against him.

Reluctantly, he accepts the non-participation condition.

Still, the Guild never explicitly forbids cooperation.

Finn therefore approaches Liliruca, offers strategic support, shares information on the Freya Familia, and coaches her on battlefield command.

The Corrupted Spirit and the Thousand Azure Garden

After the Faction War, Finn organizes a grand coalition expedition to defeat the root cause behind the Enyo incidents: the Corrupted Spirit.

To secure the Freya Familia’s cooperation, he uses Syr Flover as a mediator and negotiates with Ottar.

Ottar initially refuses.

Finn then commissions a formal quest to defeat the floor boss Balor on the 49th floor—a target Ottar had long wanted to solo—forcing Ottar into active support.

A few days before the expedition, the “Orariad,” a city-scale festival, is held, and Royman asks Loki Familia to participate.

Finn refuses, pointing out the scheduling conflict and implying that Royman created the problem himself; he also remarks that he does not particularly care who wins.

Once in the 60th floor’s domain of the Corrupted Spirit, Finn leads the coalition forces into battle.

The enemy unleashes a seventh Revis empowered by curse, and Ais, driven into a frenzied state, is almost devoured by the spirit.

Finn, Riveria, and Gareth rush to save her but are too late; Ais is swallowed, and the Corrupted Spirit powers up, rampaging across the battlefield.

Finn casts his ultimate throwing-spear magic “Tir na nOg,” pouring all his magic into it, dealing great damage but not finishing the spirit.

The resulting explosion collapses the area, sending Finn and the core members into a crevasse between the 60th and 61st floors—the Thousand Azure Garden.

Separately from the main fight, they must regroup, survive, and find a way back to help.

In the Garden, Finn quickly finds Riveria, then Gareth.

With Riveria’s detection spells they locate Bete, Anakitty, Tsubaki Collbrande, and eventually the frozen Amidy.

They secure a temporary base, ration meager supplies from a recovered backpack, and rely on an unbreakable “durandal” weapon for protection.

Finn discovers that the twin communication magic item crafted by Asfi Al Andromeda is glowing, signaling that rescue forces are near.

Riveria senses Tione as well, and they move toward her location in a furious snowstorm.

There, they face the “warden” version of Tione, whose twisted limbs are encased in ice armor and who is controlled by the Garden.

Tione’s ice arms and legs, combined with “ice contamination,” subject Finn’s team to relentless assault.

They could kill her and end the threat, but Finn, now aiming to be a hero like Bell who abandons nothing, refuses to accept that choice.

Instead, he gambles everything on a direct approach, rushing into Tione’s grasp.

As she tries to freeze him, he resists both ice and mental corruption with his magic and his “Noble Brave” skill, then kisses her, triggering a surge of her pent-up love that breaks the Garden’s control.

Once the link is severed, Riveria calms the Garden, fully freeing Tione without killing her.

At roughly the same period on an upper floor, Bell similarly frees Tiona from parasitic monsters, mirroring Finn’s resolve not to sacrifice comrades.

Soon after they escape the Garden, a multi-ring magical ritual strikes the area from above, hammering the Garden.

Thanks to Raoul’s prior efforts in defeating multiple Demi-Spirits, the attack is weakened enough that Finn’s group avoids annihilation.

Finn pushes forward to encircle the Corrupted Spirit from below while Raoul’s forces attack from above.

However, they find themselves in a chamber directly beneath the Spirit, facing a “womb” of spirit flesh and a new monstrosity: the Reginus.

Reginus is a killing machine created by the Spirit to exterminate Finn’s group.

Even with their Level 7 power, Finn, Riveria, and Gareth can barely survive its blows, and Finn’s “Tir na nOg” fails to kill it due to its regeneration.

Reinforcements arrive: Raul, Allen, and the Gulliver Brothers.

Even this formidable group is still overwhelmed, and Reginus prepares a catastrophic flare to finish them and then go after Bell.

Raul sacrifices himself to intercept the flare, causing everyone to believe he is dead.

Then Asterius and Lefiya arrive, but even with Asterius they struggle until Reginus suddenly weakens.

Finn deduces that the Corrupted Spirit has overextended its power, sending too much energy to the upper floors against Orario’s heroes.

The group endures, then seizes the moment of weakness to counterattack.

Fels and Rei arrive as final reinforcements, and even the imprisoned Ais fights back from within the Spirit.

Finn coordinates with the Gulliver Brothers and others in a five-man combination assault that drives Reginus into a desperate situation.

Ultimately, Tione and Lefiya deliver the finishing blow, destroying Reginus.

Above, Bell manages to free Ais and defeat the Corrupted Spirit, ending the threat.

After returning to the surface, Finn later visits Loki to share his conclusion:

Bell Cranel is the final “key” necessary to one day defeat the Black Dragon.

He begins contemplating a way to bring Bell into the Loki Familia.

At the same time, he knows that a direct attempt would draw heavy resistance both from outside and from his own allies, so how he will pursue this remains an open question.

Finn specializes in spear combat using his custom “Forteia Spear.”

He uses his small frame to his advantage, darting in and out of reach, using leverage and precision to make each strike count.

With over twenty years of adventuring, his combat experience is second to almost none.

Though he favors spear techniques, he can also wield knives and swords, attributing his versatility to “being old enough to have learned everything the hard way.”

As a Level 7 Pallum, his raw “Strength” and “Endurance” stats are relatively lower than those of larger races but still transcend normal standards.

His “Dexterity” is maxed out at its limit value, making him incredibly precise in movement and weapon handling.

When he activates his empowerment magic, his overall ability temporarily jumps beyond his already high level.

In such moments he becomes a terrifyingly fast and powerful fighter, at the cost of his calm judgment—unless specific conditions allow him to retain his cool.

Known Status (Level 6)

At Level 6, his parameters are known as follows (values summarized, not numeric here in full):

Strength and Endurance: comparatively lower but still high-tier among first-class adventurers.

Dexterity: at maximum limit.

Agility and Magic: high, supporting his role as a mobile spear-fighter and commander.

He also possesses an unusual number of skills—five in total—which is the highest number among characters whose status has been officially revealed to the reader.

Skills

Little People’s Truth (Pallum Spirit)

This skill greatly amplifies the effects of Finn’s magic and other skills when he is in a disadvantaged situation.

The more desperate the circumstances, the stronger the boost, embodying the idea that Pallum shine brightest under pressure.

Noble Brave

Noble Brave grants strong resistance to mental abnormalities and psychological status effects.

It is especially important against curses, illusions, and mental contamination, such as those deployed by the Thousand Azure Garden.

It allows Finn to maintain his identity and will even under heavy psychic assault.

This skill is crucial when he uses high-risk magic like Hel Finnegras and when he faces spirit-based enemies.

Knight’s Heart, Single Spear (Dear Fianna)

When Finn wields a spear, this skill temporarily manifests the developmental ability “Spearman.”

The exact effects scale with his level, further boosting his spear combat efficiency.

It synergizes strongly with his main weapon—the Forteia Spear—turning him into a near-perfect spear specialist.

This skill underpins his identity as both a knight-like commander and a front-line lancer.

Command Howl

Command Howl expands the reach and impact of Finn’s voice when he shouts above a certain intensity.

During chaotic battles, the effect scales with the size of the conflict, allowing him to project commands across wide areas.

This skill is one reason Loki Familia soldiers respond so quickly and cohesively under his leadership.

It also contributes to his reputation as a “morale genius,” as his words carry literally supernatural influence.

Regiment Medal (Al Macmina)

This skill grants high resistance to sleep-based abnormal conditions.

It also enhances his ability to function without sleep and increases his durability against fire-type attacks.

The name suggests a recognition of his long service and command experience.

In practice, it helps him stay active and clear-headed in extended campaigns and harsh environments.

Developmental Abilities

Finn’s known developmental abilities include:

Hunter: A rare ability that manifests only upon ranking up to Level 2. Once Finn has fought a monster type before, his abilities are boosted in subsequent encounters with that species.

Anti-Status (Resistance to Abnormalities): Reduces or negates the effects of status ailments such as poison, paralysis, or mental contamination.

Magic Defense: Not fully explained in-story, but understood as increased resistance to magical attacks.

Preemptive Strike: Details are unclear, but likely enhances initiative or reaction speed at the start of combat.

Swift Attack: Also not fully specified, but presumably boosts speed and rapid offensive actions.

These abilities combine to make Finn extremely difficult to catch off guard or disable.

He is a nightmare opponent for monsters or enemies relying on tricks, curses, or special status effects.

Magic

Hel Finnegras

Chant: “O magic spear, pierce the forehead that offers its blood.”

Hel Finnegras is a high-boost empowerment spell.

Finn gathers crimson magic at his fingertip, shaping it into a spear-tip, then drives it into his own forehead.

His blue eyes turn red and his fighting spirit explodes.

All his abilities are raised drastically, to the point where observers might mistake him for being an entire level higher.

The downside is severe: while the spell is active, Finn loses his calm judgment and becomes a berserker.

Because he is the main strategist and commander, casting Hel Finnegras effectively means abandoning command.

As a result, he rarely uses this magic and keeps it as a last resort.

However, later in the Astria Record timeline, it is revealed that when Finn’s emotions are pushed to their limit—such as extreme anger—he can activate Hel Finnegras while retaining his rationality.

Tir na nOg

Chant (shortened explanation):

The chant invokes a new covenant, discarded true names, the wise spirit Finnegras, the false goddess Fianna, knights’ galloping hooves, and the Pallum’s pride and beacon-like courage.

It culminates in a declaration: “If I may be permitted, then here and now, I shall unleash the goddess’s single spear.”

Tir na nOg converts Finn’s entire status—Level, parameters, and potential—into a massive magical throwing spear.

The resulting attack has truly enormous destructive power.

At Level 7, one Tir na nOg shot can pierce a seven-layered magical barrier formed by the Corrupted Spirit and devastate an entire floor.

Its usage is limited by a long cooldown: once used, it cannot be cast again for 24 hours.

The chant is heavily based on the heroic tales of the Fianna Knights, a legendary Pallum order from 3,000 years ago.

When Finn discovers this, he dryly wonders if he might be “a bit more obsessed than he realized.”

Forteia Spear

The Forteia Spear is Finn’s signature golden long spear, crafted by the Goibniu Familia.

It is a special-ordered weapon designed specifically for a Pallum user.

The shaft is made from “Oath-Tree Walnut,” providing durability and flexible resilience.

The golden spearhead is forged from a composite of “Brave Iron” and “Dil Adamantite,” ultra-rare materials said to be native to the legendary “Eran Forest,” the homeland of Fianna’s knights.

Excluding processed super-metals, both materials are considered top-tier.

The spear costs around 130 million valis, reflecting its unique quality and heritage.

Spear Roland

Spear Roland is another high-grade spear with the “unbreakable” property, worth roughly 100 million valis.

It is part of the “Roland” series forged by Tsubaki Collbrande of the Hephaistos Familia.

Finn commissioned it specifically to counter “Virga,” giant insects that attack with corrosive fluids.

In contrast to the golden Forteia Spear, Spear Roland has a silver spearhead, serving as its aesthetic and functional counterpart.

Lore from the Astria Record reveals that Finn is the reincarnation—or at least the spiritual successor—of a Pallum youth named Dim.

Dim lived approximately 3,000 years earlier as a member of the legendary Fianna Knights.

He began as a pageboy but was driven by tragedy when a foolish king got his comrades killed.

Seeking revenge, he became the second captain of the Fianna Knights and chose the name Finn, taking on leadership and burden.

The magics he uses in the present, Hel Finnegras and Tir na nOg, are reflections of that previous life.

Hel Finnegras honors the guiding spirit Finnegras, while Tir na nOg expresses his desire for people to reach a distant paradise-like dream.

Many of Finn’s present relationships—such as with Liliruca and Lila—are implied to be echoes of bonds from that previous life.

Only a handful of characters, such as Goibniu, seem to grasp the full extent of these connections.

The author has stated that Finn “escaped from his hands” as a character during the Xenos arc.

Without Sword Oratoria volume 10, Finn might have remained a function-oriented, less human figure, focused solely on being a “Braver.”

By exploring Finn’s inner monologues and conflicts, the author was able to give him far greater depth.

He ranks alongside Bell and Liliruca as one of the most memorable characters in terms of personal growth and complexity.

In the manga Wand and Sword Wistoria, also by the same author, there is a boy named Finn who looks very similar and is even voiced by the same actor in adaptations.

This has led many fans to see him as a kind of “alternate world” version of Finn Deimne, further cementing the “Finn” archetype in the author’s body of work.
