Former Arlong Pirates officer turned takoyaki shop owner. An octopus fish-man known as "Hatchan of the Six Sword Style." Bounty of 8 million berries.

Born in Fish-Man District. Age 36 to 38. Birthday is August 8th. Height 220 cm. Leo. Blood type S. Favorite foods are takoyaki and takoyaki crackers.

Has six arms with suckers and can spit octopus ink from his mouth. He is cheerful and mild-mannered, with a somewhat absent-minded side. Relatively friendly towards humans, he felt guilty for participating in Arlong's ambitions. Nami once said of him, "He's harmless if not for his association with Arlong." His crewmates, including Arlong, call him "Hatchan." He has a Sun Pirates tattoo on his forehead. His catchphrase is "nyu."

A swordsman of the "Six Sword Style," wielding six swords each weighing 300 kg with his flexible body, claiming to be "the number one swordsman on Fish-Man Island, except for one (Hyozou)."

Over 20 years ago, as a child, he saved Rayleigh who was shipwrecked at sea, leading to a close relationship with Rayleigh and Shakky. He joined the Arlong Pirates in his youth and joined Fisher Tiger's Sun Pirates 15 years ago. When Jinbe became a Warlord of the Sea and Arlong was released and declared independence, Hatchan followed Arlong and left the Sun Pirates.

During the battle at Arlong Park with the Straw Hat Pirates, he fought Zoro. He cornered Zoro, who was suffering from wounds inflicted by Mihawk, but was defeated after Zoro broke all six swords with his indomitable fighting spirit and hit him with "Tornado."

After the collapse of the Arlong Pirates, he was captured by the Navy but escaped from prison. After a great adventure in the cover story "Hatchan's Sea-Floor Stroll," he met Keimi the mermaid and Pappag the starfish. He was rejected again by Octopako, whom he had been turned down by before, but finally fulfilled his childhood dream of opening his desired takoyaki shop, "Takoyaki 8."

He was captured by the kidnapper Macro and his crew near the Sabaody Archipelago but was freed by Luffy and his crew. In the Sabaody Archipelago, he joined Luffy and others to rescue Keimi, who had been kidnapped by human traffickers, but was shot by Saint Charlos. About a year after the Summit War, he was seriously injured while protecting the Thousand Sunny from the Navy and returned to Fish-Man Island to recuperate.

In the Fish-Man Island arc, he tried to stop Hody but was beaten by Decken. Despite his injuries, he managed to escape to Fish-Man Island and reunited with the Straw Hat Pirates, telling them about Hody's plot in the Sea Forest. After the coup ended, he thanked the Straw Hats for stopping Hody and saw them off as they left Fish-Man Island.

Originally, instead of an octopus fish-man, he was supposed to be a squid fish-man named "Maple Reed," a female swordsman of the Eight Sword Style.
