Gesicht

The protagonist of this work. One of the world's most advanced robots, he participated in the 39th Central Asian Conflict as part of the peacekeeping forces, tasked with eliminating terrorists hiding in urban areas as part of the security police unit. Currently, he is active as a Europol special investigator robot solving numerous difficult cases in Düsseldorf, Germany, within the Euro Federation. His current rank is Inspector. He is pursuing an unidentified murderer.

Two years ago, his memory was altered, causing him to suffer from nightmares and flashbacks. During the pursuit of the murderer, he comes into contact with Darius XIV and Professor Abullah, eventually uncovering the murderer's identity, but lets them go to ensure the safety of the captured Dr. Hoffman. Later, he encounters a flower-selling robot, Mohamed Ali, whom he had supposedly met in Persia, once again in the Netherlands. Suddenly, he falls before the deadly bullet fired by this robot.

His form is humanoid. He appears to be a European male in his late 30s, with slightly thinning hair. His left hand can emit sleep gas, and his right hand can fire the SAAW special weapon "Zeronium bullets." His body is made of a special alloy called "Zeronium," which neutralizes electromagnetic waves and heat rays. Additionally, he is equipped with functions to scan for toxic substances, stabilize distorted images with an "image stabilizer," and a recognition system to detect lies in others' statements. According to Dr. Roosevelt, he is "the most powerful weapon of mass destruction ever." His head's structure is designed to resemble the face from Tezuka's version.

During the investigation, it is revealed that he has a past as a "murderer," a deep affection for his son Robita, who was erased along with that fact, and a shared sense of loss with Helena influenced by this. Fearing the unerasable hatred within himself, he confirms that he killed Haas's brother with hatred, seeks advice from Brau, who is in a similar position, and wishes to confront his past without running away and fulfill his mission. Furthermore, from Atom's testament pointing out that Gesicht and Pluto are the same, he realizes that Pluto, though controlled by hatred, was originally a kind-hearted young robot named Sahad, loved by everyone. In the battle with Pluto, he neutralizes him with Zeronium bullets but refuses the destruction order and lets him go in exchange for Dr. Hoffman's hostage. Realizing he is not in a position to judge humans or robots as a robot detective, he applies for resignation or long-term leave, which is not accepted, and criticizes the higher-ups for not judging him as a murderer. After trying to be a good father again with Helena, he is shot by Ali, whom he saw as his son Robita. Even after being shot, he worries about the fallen Ali and entrusts his conclusion that "hatred produces nothing" to Atom.

"Gesicht" means "face" in German.

"The Greatest Robot on Earth" version:

A robot detective trying to arrest Pluto. He sees through the mastermind pulling the strings behind the robot serial destruction incidents and requests Atom to testify in court regarding the case. Made of a special alloy (Zeronium) that neutralizes electromagnetic waves and heat rays (mistakenly thought to be made of gold by Atom's mom), he has 16 beam cannons built into his chest. Despite his quick movements and resistance to Pluto's deadly electromagnetic wave attacks, he is caught off guard and destroyed, with his appearance in the original work ending in just a few pages. In "Astro Boy," he is remade as "Delta," the captain of the police special forces ARRS unit under Inspector Tawashi, becoming a semi-regular character. In "The Greatest Robot on Earth" episode, similar to the original Gesicht, he is attacked in front of Hercules (in the "Astro Boy" version, Pluto's targets, excluding Atom, are four people).
