Former lord of Kuri in the Wano Country. Father of Momonosuke and Hiyori, and son of the former Shogun Sukiyaki. Former 2nd division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and a member of the Roger Pirates. Deceased.

Born in the Flower Capital of Wano Country. Died at the age of 39. His birthday is February 22nd (Oden Day). He was 382 cm tall, a Pisces, with blood type F. His favorite food was all kinds of oden.

Known for his large, spread-out topknot. He wore geta and a kabuki actor-like outfit with a large Niō-dasuki over his coat. A heretic who questioned the laws of the isolated nation of Wano Country for many years, often saying "it's cramped." Born a nonconformist and a dynamic character, he was known for bizarre behaviors such as cooking oden on his cremated remains. He had a generous and magnanimous personality, charming major pirates like Whitebeard, Roger, and Shanks. Even 20 years after his death, he still holds immense trust among his retainers and the people of Kuri. He had unique nicknames for those close to him.

A swordsman who used a two-sword style called "Oden Nitoryu." His beloved swords, both ranked among the 21 Great Grade swords, were Ame no Habakiri, which could cut the heavens, and Enma, which could slice through the depths of hell. Enma, known for involuntarily drawing out the user's Ryou, was tamed only by Oden in Wano Country. Before his execution, he entrusted each sword to Momonosuke and Hiyori. He also possessed Conqueror's Haki.

From a young age, he caused numerous incidents, troubling his father, Shogun Sukiyaki. At 18, he saved the capital from a crisis by defeating a giant white boar, the Mountain God, but was disowned and exiled from the capital by Sukiyaki. However, he later subdued the ruffians of Kuri, a lawless area at the time, in a single day, stabilizing the region's security. Recognized for his achievements, he was reconciled with his father at the age of 20 and granted the title of "Daimyo of Kuri." During his travels and the following years, he gathered many who would later become the "Nine Red Scabbards."

30 years ago, he begged to join the Whitebeard Pirates when they were stranded in Wano Country and took on Whitebeard's challenge. During this time, he met Toki, who was being pursued by kidnappers, and abandoned the trial to save her. Recognized for his character, he joined the crew along with Izo, Inuarashi, Nekomamushi, and Toki. During the voyage, he fell in love with Toki, and they had two children, Momonosuke and Hiyori. Oden's strength reached the Navy, and he was later appointed as the 2nd division commander by Whitebeard.

Four years after leaving Wano Country, he was scouted by Roger because he could read the ancient texts. He begged Whitebeard to let him join the Roger Pirates along with his family. After traveling through places like Skypiea, Water Seven, and Fish-Man Island, he returned to Wano Country after four years to copy the "Poneglyphs." However, due to Toki's illness from the long journey, he left his family and retainers in Wano and set sail again after only a few hours. He accompanied Roger to the final point of the Grand Line, Laugh Tale, and learned the "secrets of the world" and why the Kozuki family closed the borders of Wano Country. However, he never shared this knowledge with Momonosuke or his retainers after returning.

25 years ago, after the dissolution of the Roger Pirates, he returned to Wano Country. He learned from his retainers about his father's death and that Wano Country had been taken over by Orochi and Kaido. When he found out that Toki had been injured by Kaido's subordinates, he furiously stormed into Orochi's castle alone and attacked Orochi, but was blocked by Kurozumi Semimaru's abilities. He was then forced into a deal by Orochi, who took the people he had kidnapped as hostages, demanding that Oden perform a humiliating dance of apology to the Kurozumi family every week for five years, releasing 100 kidnapped people with each performance. Despite losing public support and being ridiculed as a fool, he continued the dance for five years. However, Orochi broke his promise to leave Wano Country, and after close associates like Hyogoro's wife and followers were killed, Oden reached his limit and decided to take down Kaido with his retainers. Although he inflicted a great wound on Kaido, he was defeated due to a trap set by Kurozumi Higurashi. He and his retainers were imprisoned and sentenced to be boiled alive.

During the boiling execution, Oden proposed that if anyone could withstand the boiling for the designated time, they should be released. Kaido set the time at one hour. Oden endured the boiling oil at 700 degrees while holding up a platform with his nine retainers on it, sacrificing his body to last the hour. During this time, Shinobu revealed the truth about the humiliating dance, regaining public support for Oden. However, Orochi suddenly switched to a firing squad execution, attempting to kill Oden. Oden threw the platform out of the pot to help his retainers escape, leaving them with the words, "Open the borders of Wano Country," before being shot in the head by Kaido and dying in the boiling oil. This event, known as "Oden's legendary hour," continues to be told among the people of Wano Country.

Techniques:

Tougen Shirataki: Swings his two Haki-coated swords to bisect the target.

Tougen Totsuka: Cuts the target in a cross shape. This technique left a lasting cross-shaped scar on Kaido. Kin'emon, Denjiro, Ashura Doji, and Inuarashi have inherited this technique.

Gun Modoki: Crosses his two swords to slash at the opponent.
